Weight loss doesn’t have to be an arduous, horrible experience.  Most of us have a negative connotation with weight loss because we associate it with back-breaking exercise and strict, bland diets.  Well, for all of you looking to shed a few pounds before you squeeze into that oh-so-tiny swimsuit, take heart!  Here’s the real skinny on weight loss: tips and tricks to help you lose the weight without losing your mind!

  • Concentrate on strength training – larger muscles burn more calories.
  • Drink lots and lots of water!   You should be drinking half your body weight in ounces daily – it’ll help minimize over eating, keep you feeling full, and can help you lose weight.  Try to drink at least one full glass of water with every meal.
  • Exercise for at least 30 minutes 4 to 5 times a week.  You can even break up your workouts – working out for 10 minute intervals three times a day is just as effective as working out for a full 30 minutes.
  • Allow yourself one day a week to eat 500 more calories than you normally would – it’ll keep your cravings under control and help you better stick to healthy eating habits throughout the rest of the week.
